Opening August 2026!
Taking the first step toward getting mental health treatment takes courage, and at Coastal Pines Behavioral Health in St. Augustine, Florida, we are here to make that journey as smooth as possible from the very beginning. From your earliest contact with our intake team, we work to remove the uncertainty so that you can focus on what matters most: getting well.
Admissions Criteria
Initially, our hospital will provide care solely for adults age 18 and older, with all admissions decisions made on a case-by-case basis depending on a person’s clinical needs and acuity level.
Services specifically for adolescents are planned for a future phase and are not yet available. As those units open, we will update this page with specific age ranges and admissions details.
Our inpatient program is designed for individuals who are experiencing symptoms of mental health concerns, such as:
- Depression
- Bipolar disorder
- Anxiety disorders
- Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
- Schizophrenia
- Suicidal ideation
- Self-harm
- Psychosis
For a patient to be admitted to our hospital, they must be suffering from a primary mental health concern. However, we are able to provide care for patients who are struggling with co-occurring substance use disorders, including addictions to substances like:
- Alcohol
- Benzodiazepines
- Opioids
Admissions Process
The admissions process begins with a thorough assessment covering previous psychiatric treatment, current symptoms, medical history, social history, and family psychiatric history. The results determine whether a person meets our admissions criteria and, if they are admitted, are used to develop an individualized care plan.
Upon your admission to the hospital, an intake staff member will check your vitals, and you will be asked to sign a variety of forms, such as the Consent to Treatment and Authorization for Release of Healthcare Information. Our team will explain these documents to you so that you understand the purpose and importance of why you are being asked to sign them.
After fully completing the intake process, you will be taken on a tour of the unit and introduced to staff members. You will be assigned to a room on the basis of availability, need, and personal circumstances. Semiprivate rooms are shared by patients of the same sex. In your room, you will be introduced to your roommate by the nursing staff and shown where to store your belongings.
Our staff will check all your personal belongings and explain if any items are unsafe. Any items that may pose a risk will be removed and placed in a storage area outside of our care areas for the duration of your stay. As you become acquainted with our staff, you will find that you can trust that they are here to help. You will not need any electronic devices, including cellphones, or money during your stay. Please allow a trusted friend or family member to keep items of value while you are at Coastal Pines Behavioral Health.
